Okay, so I’m going through some heavy heartbreak, some depression and anxiety right now, but I it never fails to amaze me how some people treat me as some kind of pariah just because I refuse to call shit shineola! I think Obama is an exceptional guy and of course he’s better than Bush, but the truth is, as nice as that is and as well as he may mean, it doesn’t change the fact that we’re an empire that’s rotting from within. And we’re all complicit in that we want so badly to believe otherwise that we can’t seem to help but perpetuate the delusion of American exceptionalism. This is why the perspective challenged are buying SUV’s again. This is why Reverend Wright got tossed under the bus. He said the things that no one wants to admit are true.
Same situation here. Obama’s financial team are the same people who championed the deregulation at the heart of the banking crisis under Clinton and they’ve all attempted to distance themselves from their involvement in the devastating reversal of the Glass-Steagall Act. And no one seems to care cause we’re all ultimately selfish and caught up in our lives, present company included. So, fuck yes it’s a negative thing, but is it really just overly negative of me to point out the obvious? Is simply “having a positive attitude” going to really help me or manifest some change to the despair and horrors that exist in the world? I wish it were that simple. I really do.
